Basic Greetings in Hindi

The most common way to say "Hello" or "Hi" in Hindi is:

नमस्ते is used both for "hello" and "goodbye." It's a very versatile greeting. You can also use this greeting with a slight bow or with folded hands. This gesture shows respect.

If you want to say "Good morning," you can say:

शुभ means "good" or "auspicious," and प्रभात means "morning."

Similarly, to say "Good evening," you would say:

संध्या means "evening."

Introducing Yourself

Now that you know some basic greetings, let's learn how to introduce yourself.

To say "My name is...", you can use:

Replace the "..." with your name. For example, if your name is "John," you would say:

मेरा means "my", नाम means "name", and है is like "is."

To ask someone "What is your name?", you can say:

आपका means "your" (formal), and क्या means "what."

Simple Questions

To ask "How are you?", you can say:

कैसे means "how". Note that this is a more formal way to ask. A casual way to ask "How are you" is क्या हाल है?

To answer, "I am fine," you can say:
